🏛️ Our Board of Governors: Stewards of Our Vision
The Board of Governors at Ladybird Group of Schools plays a crucial role as the strategic stewards of our institution. Their primary commitment is to ensure the long-term strategic direction and financial well-being of the school, guaranteeing we consistently uphold our core mission of "High Moral Standards and Academic Excellence."
Our Mandate
The Governors set the overarching vision and values for Ladybird, then develop the strategic priorities that bring that vision to life. While they define the policy and approve major plans for the school, it is important to note that the Board does not manage the school’s day-to-day operations—that is the responsibility of the Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities
The Board is responsible for the health and direction of the school in several crucial areas:
Defining the Future: Adopting, establishing, and periodically reviewing a clear statement of Ladybird's mission, vision, and values, and setting strategic goals to fulfill our motto.
Leadership Oversight: Selecting, supporting, nurturing, and evaluating the school’s Headteacher and the Leadership Team. This includes assisting the Headteacher in performance planning and evaluation.
Ensuring Quality: Ensuring the Headteacher recruits, retains, rewards, and develops the highest calibre of teaching staff—the heart of the academic excellence we promise.
Compliance and Integrity: Guaranteeing that the school and the Board operate in full compliance with all relevant Cameroonian laws and regulations.
Stakeholder Relations: Proactively engaging with the Headteacher to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including parents, staff, and the broader community in Yaoundé.
Policy and Appeal: Acting as the final appeals committee, in line with school policies, for complex issues that cannot be resolved at the Headteacher level.
In essence, the Board ensures the integrity and sustainability of the Ladybird experience, allowing the dedicated academic staff and leadership to focus on providing the outstanding holistic education our students deserve.
