Examinations and Assessments: A Culture of Excellence

Motto: High Moral Standards and Academic Excellence

At Ladybird Group of Schools, we believe that assessment is much more than just a grade. It is a vital process of gathering and interpreting evidence to understand each student's progress. By identifying what students know, understand, and can do at different stages, our teachers are able to plan, guide, and implement learning that ensures no child is left behind.

Internal Assessments and the Sequence System

We operate on a three-term academic year. To ensure "Academic Excellence" is maintained throughout the year, we utilize a Continuous Assessment model.

The 6-Week Sequence

For all levels—from Early Years and Primary to Secondary and High School—we follow a rigorous sequence schedule:

  • Regular Testing: Formal assessments are conducted every 6 weeks.

  • Termly Structure: This results in two major examination periods per term.

  • Purpose: These sequences ensure that students master skills and knowledge gradually rather than cramming at the end of the year. It builds the stamina required for higher-level national exams.

Monitoring and Reporting

We believe in keeping parents closely informed about their child's journey. Consequently, Report Cards are issued six times per year (at the end of every 6-week sequence). This frequent reporting allows for immediate intervention and celebration of progress.

Official National Examinations

Ladybird Group of Schools provides intensive preparation and mock trials to ensure our students excel in their transition years. We prepare candidates for the following prestigious milestones:

1. Primary School (Grade 6)

At the end of the primary cycle, our students sit for two critical examinations:

  • The Government Common Entrance Examination: For placement into the secondary school of their choice.

  • The First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC): The official certification of primary education completion.

2. Secondary School (Form 5)

Students in Form 5 sit for the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level. Having specialized in their chosen stream (Arts or Sciences) since Form 4, our candidates are prepared to sit for up to 11 subjects, demonstrating a broad and deep understanding of their curriculum.

3. High School (Upper Sixth)

The pinnacle of our academic structure is the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level. Our Upper Sixth students sit for this exam in their highly specialized series (S1–S8 or A1–A5), providing them with the credentials needed for top-tier university admissions and professional career paths.

Our Commitment to Integrity

In line with our motto of High Moral Standards, Ladybird Group of Schools maintains a policy of zero tolerance for examination malpractice. We teach our students that true excellence is achieved through honesty, self-reliance, and hard work. Our examination environments are strictly supervised to ensure that every certificate earned by a Ladybird student is a true reflection of their capability and character.
